Yeung Chau Fried Rice

Yeung Chau Fried rice is popular menu in Chinese restaurants. Yeung Chau is a province in China known for its superior fried rice dishes.  It is colorful and flavorful with with tender crispy vegetables, prawns and meat. Barbequed pork is one of the key ingredient n this fried rice. I used grilled salmon fish instead. So this is a seafood Yeung chau fried rice. Oyster sauce, curry powder or Chinese five spice  is used instead of soya sauce. Give this recipe a try, you will surely love it.

Ingredients
White rice/ basmathi rice- cooked- 2 cup
Egg-1
Chopped onion- 1/2 cup
Garlic- 2 cloves
Vegetable oil- 2 tbs
Peas- 1/2 cup
Carrots- 1/2 cup chopped
Green beans chopped- 1/3 cup
Grilled Prawns- 3/4 cup
Grilled salmon- 3/4 cup shredded
(or barbecued pork or chicken)
 Oyster sauce- 1 tbs
Pepper and salt to taste



Heat oil in a pan. Stir fry onions and garlic till translucent. Add the vegetables and fry in medium heat for two minutes, or until soft yet crisp. Remove from the pan and pour one egg, scramble and stir fry. Add the rice the stir fried vegetables, shrimp , grilled fish/meat and oyster sauce,pepper and salt to taste. Stir until well mixed for about a minute. Serve warm.

Chicken Shawarma Today's recipe is a home made version of chicken shawarma. Shawarma is a popular sandwich of the middle east and is a favorite fast food. No one can resist this delicious sandwich of spiced meat wrapped in pita bread and drizzled with a delicious and tangy yogurt based sauce.The source of inspiration is Dedemed in youtube. I combined some recipes and ended up with a marinade flavor which my family enjoyed .The original meat used in shawarma is slow cooked chicken very similar to rotisserie chicken.But you will get almost the same results if you thinly slice chicken and use a grill pan. In the spice mix I used a little of sumac ( it is optional). It is part of middle eastern cooking and has a tart flavor and enhances the taste of seafood,meat and salads.Sumac has a very inviting fruit tart flavor which you will love,but if you do not have sumac you can very well substitute it with lemon.You can use either chicken or mutton and your own combination of sal

Strawberry Streusel Cake

 This is a versatile coffee streusel cake, flavorful and buttery with a sandwiched layer of fresh strawberries and finally topped with cinnamon flavored crumbly crust.The streusel or the sprinkle is flavored with butter and cinnamon and nuts. Prepare cake tin by greasing and then dusting with flour. To make streusel topping,mix in brown sugar flour and cinnamon.
